(ELGIN COUNTY) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police are currently investigating a serious collision which occured around 11:06 pm this morning August 23, 2012.
The collision occured on Highway #3 at Hacienda Road, just east of Aylmer, ON in Malahide Township. A SUV was travelling south on Hacienda Rd and stopped at the stop sign at Highway #3. The SUV then proceeded and was struck on the passeger side by a tractor trailer which was travelling east on Highway #3.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 54 year old Hamilton man, was uninjured in the collision.
The driver of the SUV, a 83 year old Aylmer ON man suffered minor injuries while his 81 year old female passenger suffered serious injuries. She was airlift to Victoria hospital.
All parties were wearing seatbelts.
Police continue to investigate the collision. Highway #3 at Hacienda Road was closed for approximately one hour.
