Tip From Public Helps Get Another Impaired Driver Off The Road

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 6, 2017 at approximately 9:20 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint south bound on County Road 19 towards Fergus.

The vehicle and driver were located at an address on James Street, Fergus. Police spoke with the driver and believed her to be impaired by alcohol.

55-year-old Johanna VANBEKKUM of Fergus has been charged with Fail to Provide Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on December 15, 2017.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, you can call police at 911 to report it.
