(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On August 19, 2016, at 1:20 a.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) on Parry Sound Drive in Parry Sound. Officers conducting RIDE checks stopped a vehicle to determine the sobriety of the driver. The officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the officer’s investigation, Timothy BURNS, 27 years of age from London, was arrested and charged with:
Fail or Refuse to provide sample contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, on September 1, 2016 to answer to his charges. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
