Thomas Edward CLARKE – Drinking and Driving

(MINDEMOYA, ON) – At 11:45 am, on September 2, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Communications Centre in North Bay received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen reporting a suspected impaired driver travelling between Mindemoya and Spring Bay. The automobile was located by members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP. The investigating officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol, and the driver was arrested. The driver provided breath samples and registered a reading within the warn range on an approved instrument.

As a result of this investigation, Thomas Edward CLARKE, age 63 of Spring Bay, Ontario was issued a 3 day driver’s license suspension. He has been charged with being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, contrary to section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act, and having the care or control of a motor vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor License Act.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
