This Week In Russell County

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 237 calls for service from Sunday September 27th to Saturday October 3rd.  Among these occurrences OPP responded to 4 domestic disputes, 1 assault, 1 sexual assault, 3 drug offences and one impaired related occurrences. As a result of those occurrences, four males were charged with various offences. 

Domestic Disputes

OPP officers investigated 4 domestic disputes from Sunday to Saturday.  No criminal charges were laid, ongoing investigation.

Alcohol related incident

On Saturday the 3rd of October 2015, OPP officers a report of suspicious males drinking beer outside their vehicle in the parking lot by the Mr. Gas located on Edward Street in Rockland. Upon police arrival, the four males were sitting in the vehicle and the engine was running.

The driver Davidson Wood, aged 53 of Ottawa was arrested and charged with the following:

· Care or Control While Impaired by Alcohol CC 253(1)(a)

· Care or Control Over 80 milligrams of Alcohol CC 253 (1)(b)

Wood was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on October 14th.

The passengers, Robert Taite, aged 47, Sean McGuire, aged 47 and Gregory Hamre, aged 48 all from Cumberland were also charged with liquor related offences.

OPP assisted Gatineau Police Service

On September 30th, OPP were requested to assist Gatineau Police Service after they executed a search warrant at the residence of the suspect Jonathan Jackson Clement, aged 27 of Gatineau.  During the search of the suspect residence, amount of CDSA and several firearms were located along with ammo for other firearms not present.  Police were concerned for public safety as the suspect was not located within the residence and was possibly in possession of firearms.  Clement was located on a job site in Clarence-Rockland.  With the assistance of TRU, ERT and K9 a high risk traffic stop was executed. Clement was arrested by Gatineau PS and he was transported back to the province of Quebec.  His vehicle was searched, no firearms were located but a small amount of drugs and ammo were located.
