This Week In Russell County

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 192 calls for service from Sunday October 25th to Saturday October 31st.  Among these occurrences, OPP responded to five domestic disputes, two assaults, two drug offences and three impaired related occurrences. As a result of those occurrences, three males and one female were charged with various offences. 

Domestic Disputes

OPP officers investigated five domestic disputes from Sunday to Saturday.  One female was charged for assaulting her ex-boyfriend at school. The accused person will not be identified has she is under the age of 18 and to protect the identity of the victim.

Impaired Driver

On Wednesday the 28th of October, Richard Begin, age 32 of Limoges was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs of alcohol. He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on November 18th.

At approximately 2 am on Thursday the 29th October, OPP was dispatched for a collision involving a half-ton pickup truck on Highway 417. Provincial Constable Sean Byrne attended the scene and his investigation revealed that the male driver involved was intoxicated. Scott Beauregard, aged 33 of Ottawa was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs of alcohol. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Five hours later he was released; Beauregard drove to the towing yard to retrieve his personal belongings. Police attended and Beauregard was charged for driving while suspended and received an extra 3 days of suspension has his alcohol level was still exceeding the provincial limit. His second vehicle was also impounded for 7 days.

On Thursday the 29th of October, Provincial Constable Shaun Campbell observed a vehicle that quickly proceeding through the intersection, at Richelieu Street without stopping at the intersection controlled by a clearly erected stop sign and visible stop lines. Officer pulled the vehicle over and formed the ground that the male driver was intoxicated. The male driver was arrested after failing a roadside alcohol screening test. Following breath tests at the detachment, Eric Montreuil, aged 42, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on November 18.

Thefts

A cart full of food was stolen from Independent grocery on Laurier Street in Rockland on Friday October 23rd at 18:39pm. The male entered the story, filled up the card and exited without paying. Constable Jason St-Amour investigated.
