Teen Gets $730 Fine For Not Having Enough Life Jackets On Board

(Gananoque, ON) -On Saturday 16 May 2015 at approximately 1:10PM, a motor boat on the St. Lawrence River, with 10 Teens and not enough life jackets was stopped by Coast Guard. The boat was escorted by Coast Guard back to shore at Rock Port. An OPP investigation revealed that this 20′ Boston Whaler with a 200 HP motor had 10 teens on board. The operator was a 15 year old teen. There were five life jackets on board. THE VESSEL WAS MISSING 5 LIFE JACKETS for the 10 people on board. The owner was charged for permitting the operation of her vessel without the appropriate number of life jackets on board the boat and fined $730.00.
