Teen Driver Ejected From Vehicle After Hitting Tree

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Sunday July 17, 2016, shortly before 5 a.m., the St.Marys Fire Department, Perth County EMS and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Line 6 east of Woodham.

Investigation revealed that a west bound pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree. The teen driver of the vehicle was ejected because no seatbelt was worn. The teen passenger who was wearing a seatbelt was not ejected. Both teens were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The teen driver, a Municipality of South Huron resident has been charged with; “careless driving”, and “driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The driver and the passenger have also been charged with “person under 19 years having liquor”, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.
