Teen Airlifted To Hospital Update

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On December 14, 2015, Grey County OPP charged the driver of the ATV. A 16 year old male youth from Melancthon Township was charged under the Highway Traffic Act Regulations with operating an off-road vehicle, no insurance; driver operating an off-road vehicle, no helmet and operating an off-road vehicle with passenger, no helmet.

The victim has since been released from hospital.

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Sunday, November 15, 2015 at approximately 5:08 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of injured female after she was ejected from an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

The 16-year old teen, from the Municipality of Grey Highlands, was a passenger on an ATV being operated by a 16-year old male on Edgar Street in the Township of Southgate. The victim was ejected from the vehicle and as a result suffered serious life-threatening injuries. She was air lifted to a Toronto hospital. The driver was treated for minor injuries.

Neither the driver nor the passenger, were wearing helmets.

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) assisted at the scene.
