TD FRAUD SCAM

(INGERSOLL, ON.) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding residents of Oxford County about personal banking scams.

OPP were contacted and are currently investigating a scam involving a person posing as a TD Bank employee that occurred on February 24, 2014. The unsuspecting resident was contacted by a male posing as a TD bank employee. The suspect told the resident that TD Bank is conducting an investigation regarding employees skimming money from clients’ accounts. The suspect then requested the resident withdraw money from their account and deliver it to a separate location.

Due to the diligence and suspicion of the resident who contacted the local TD Bank, no money was withdrawn and police were notified in a timely manner.

The OPP has seen an increase in calls from members of the public about a variety of scams and are requesting that people verify callers before falling victim to these scams. Contact businesses to verify information, if the information cannot be verified then do not fall victim to these requests.
