Taxi Driver Charged After Rollover Collision

(Tay Valley Township, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged the driver of a taxi involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 7 East of GlenTay Road in Tay Valley Township.

Officers were called to the scene at 3:31am on New Year’s Day where a Buick Car was upside down in the south ditch. The vehicle had struck a hydro pole and non – power cables were broken. The driver and four passengers were trapped inside.

The officers were able to force a door open and free some of the passengers. Fire /Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended and assisted. Two passengers had minor injuries and all parties were conveyed to Hospital and subsequently released.

The Buick was being operated a Taxi Cab and the driver, David HUNT (68 years) of South Crosby Township was charged:

One (1) Count. Unsafe Lane Change. Contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
