Suspended Drunk Driver Caught In Stolen Pickup Truck

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Friday January 15, 2016, shortly before 7 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a variety store on the Main Street in Milverton, where an unlocked 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck with its key left in the ignition had been stolen.

While officers were patrolling for the stolen pickup truck a call was received from a citizen reporting a suspected impaired driver on Perth Road 131 south of Milverton. The vehicle matched the description of the stolen Sierra pickup truck.

Within minutes officers located the pickup truck and observed it weaving in its lane along Perth Road 131. The pickup truck was pulled over near Line 61 south of Milverton and the lone male occupant who displayed signs of impairment was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, where he failed Intoxilyzer Breath Tests.

57-year-old Ralf HOCHGRAFE of the Township of Perth East has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5.000 (the pickup truck)

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol)

Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

He also faces a charge of “driving while under suspension”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on February 29, 2016, where he will have to answer to the charges.
