(SUDBURY, ON) – On January 30, 2016, members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 17, in Lorne Township, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
At approximately 12:10 a.m., officers observed a westbound vehicle appearing to be approaching at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged the male driver.
Ronald OWL, 33 years of age, from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation was charged with the following offences:
Drive while disqualified, contrary to the Criminal Code
Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (2 counts)
Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The vehicle operated by the accused was towed and impounded for seven (7) days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP).
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on March 15, 2016, to answer to his charges.
