(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has charged one suspect in connection to a recent swarming in the Herongate area.
On December 7, 2015, at approximately 7:25 pm, a female was walking in the area of Cedarwood/Baycrest when she was accosted by three males. One of the suspects grabbed a bag being carried by the victim. The group of suspects then fled with the bag and its contents. One suspect was located in the area a short time later by responding patrol officers and arrested without incident.
A 16 year old, of Ottawa, has been charged with one count of robbery and will appear in youth court on January 5, 2016. The investigation remains ongoing with respect to the other two suspects. Investigators are looking at potential links to other similar robberies in that area.
