(Adjala-Tosorontio, ON) On Saturday the 6th of September 2014 at 6:36pm an officer from the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment was on general patrol in the area of Highway 89 and Concession Road 5 of Adjala-Tosorontio Township, when a black Volkswagon Jetta was observed to be travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed.
The officers determined that the motor vehicle was travelling 120 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.
The driver was stopped and as a result of the investigation, 30-year old Jason CARREIRO of Toronto was charged with Stunt Driving. His licence was immediately suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Recent OPP data has revealed that OPP-investigated road deaths this year (2014) in which speeding was a causal factor are more than double what they were at this time last year.
