(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), of Oxford County have charged a male with stunt driving.
On March 5, 2014, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on North Street East in Tillsonburg. The vehicle was travelling at a speed of 108km/h in a posted 50km/h zone. Based on the observations and investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, the driver, a 64 year old male of Woodstock has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Joe KAPLAR was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt-Speeding by 50 or more kilometres under the Highway Traffic Act.
The vehicle has been impounded for the prescribed 7-day period and his driver’s license is suspended for 7 days.
Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult for drivers and pedestrians to react to changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.
OPP would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when travelling.
