(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On August 12, 2015, a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was northbound on Highway 69 in Carling Township. At approximately 8:06 a.m. a southbound grey car was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.
The driver, Matteo SESSA-VITALI, 44 years of age from New York has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA). His New York Licence has been suspended for seven (7) days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.
The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on September 22, 2015 to answer to the charge.
The passenger, Cecilia SERVIGON, 45 years of age from New York has been charged with Fail to properly wear seat belt contrary to the HTA. The passenger was issued a Provincial Offences Act Notice.
Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
