Stormont Dundas Press Releases

(North Dundas) – On August 20, 2016 at approximately 12:08pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checks at the intersection of County Road’s 1 and 43, North Dundas Township. The check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected marihuana and cannabis resin (hash).

The male driver, Jonathan CARNOCHAN (29) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

A male passenger, Marc MONETTE (50) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 11, 2016.

(South Glengarry) – On August 20, 2016 at approximately 9:45pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on Boundary Road, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Mubeen MOHAMMED (23) of Mississauga, Ontario and male passenger, Zahid MOHAMMAD (43) of Cambridge, Ontario were both arrested and each charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 12, 2016.

UTTER THREATS

(South Stormont) – On August 21, 2016 at approximately 1:49am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Okeefe Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between family members resulted in a male uttering threats to others, including officers at scene. The suspect also damaged a window at the home.

The 31-year-old male from Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats (5 counts)

– Mischief Under $5000

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.

(North Dundas) – On August 21, 2016 at approximately 6:59pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Bailey Avenue, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male youth and a family member resulted in the youth uttering a threat.

The 16-year-old from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats

– Fail to Comply with Sentence (conditions of previous incident)

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 11, 2016. His name is being withheld as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Stormont) – On August 19, 2016 at approximately 9:40pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Myers Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and his common-law spouse resulted in the female being physically assaulted. Further information also revealed the male had struck the victim with objects on two (2) other occasions resulting in minor injuries.

The 39-year-old male from South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)

– Assault – Spousal

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 6, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

MISCHIEF

(North Glengarry) – Overnight (August 18-19, 2016), windows were damaged at a business property on Main Street South in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Several young males were observed in the area at approximately midnight.

BREAK-INS

(South Glengarry) – Overnight (August 20-21, 2016) a residential garage was entered at a property on Sutherland Avenue, South Glengarry Township. Inside, an electric bicycle and assorted tools were taken.

(North Stormont) – Overnight (August 21-22, 2016), a building at a business property was forcibly entered located on Cockburn Street, North Stormont Township. A quantity of cash was taken from inside.
