IMPAIRED DRIVERS CHARGED

(North Dundas) – On March 27, 2015 at approximately 1:43pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Several other infractions pertaining to his driving privileges and status of the vehicle were revealed.

Ralph MELDRUM (54) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

– Driving While Disqualified

– Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (Liquor Licence Act)

– Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle (Highway Traffic Act – HTA)

– Driving While Under Suspension (HTA)

– Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle (HTA)

– Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act – CAIA)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on criminal charges in Morrisburg on May 12, 2015.

(South Glengarry) – On March 27, 2015 at approximately 9:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 17, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a pick-up truck had left the roadway and rolled over. It was revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. No injuries resulted.

John LAFAVE (53) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on May 13, 2015.

(South Dundas) – On March 28, 2015 at approximately 2:23pm, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Bay Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel CROMIE (50) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on April 7, 2015.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(North Dundas) – On March 27, 2015 at approximately 7:40pm, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Belmeade Road, North Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and open liquor.

The adult male driver, Samuel NICHOL (23) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on May 12, 2015.

Female passenger, Kayla BOISVERT (21) of Ottawa, Ontario is charged with;

– Having Liquor in Open Container

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Glengarry) – On March 28, 2015 at approximately 11:05pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Concession Road 8, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had attended the home of his ex-girlfriend and refusing to leave.

The 43-year-old male from North Glengarry was arrested at the above property and is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment – Threatening Conduct

– Trespass at Night

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 28, 2015.

BREAK-IN

(North Glengarry) – Overnight March 26-27, 2015, culprit(s) forcibly entered a classroom via a window on the west side area of Glengarry District High School on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. No property was taken.

An investigation continues.
