DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS
(South Glengarry) – On May 22, 2015 at approximately 9:25am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation on Paragon Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her common-law spouse while travelling in a vehicle resulted in the male being assaulted.
The 37-year-old female from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 23, 2015.
(North Dundas) – On May 22, 2015 at approximately 9:26am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Church Road, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male, his common-law spouse and family members resulted in the male assaulting a family member and causing damage in the home.
The 29-year-old male from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
– Mischief Under $5000
He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 7, 2015.
(South Dundas) – On May 22, 2015 at approximately 8:22pmm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 18, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her common-law spouse resulted in the female brandishing a knife and assaulting the male. Further details revealed that another similar incident had taken place earlier in the month. No injuries resulted.
The 56-year-old female from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)
– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (2 counts)
– Assault
She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
The names of the accused persons above are being withheld in order to protect the identity of victims.
HOUSE FIRE
(North Glengarry) – On May 20, 2015 at approximately 12:55am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a house fire at a property on Laggan Glenelg Road, North Glengarry Township. North Glengarry Fire Department members were tending to a fully involved fire of a vacant/abandoned structure which was totally destroyed as a result.
An investigation by SD&G OPP Crime Unit continues into the cause of the fire.
MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION
(South Glengarry) – On May 23, 2015 at approximately 5:20am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a 1994 GMC Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), driven by a 59-year-old male (lone occupant) from South Glengarry Township, was westbound on County Road 2 (near Purcell Road) when, for reasons under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver was taken to hospital suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A section of the roadway was closed as OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and SD&G OPP officers tended to the scene. An investigation continues.
STOLEN/RECOVERED VEHICLE
(South Stormont) – On May 22, 2015 at approximately 7:29am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on County Road 18, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that overnight (May 21-22, 2015) a 2002 white Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was taken.
At approximately 8:22pm, the truck was recovered abandoned at a property on County Road 12, South Stormont Township. Further information revealed a chainsaw had been removed from inside.
An investigation continues.
STOLEN ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE (ATV)
(North Glengarry) – On May 24, 2015 at approximately 12:29pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of an ATV from a property on County Road 34, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that overnight (May 23-24, 2015) a 1984 Honda Big Red 3-wheeled ATV was taken.
An investigation continues.
