STOLEN TRANSPORT FLEES FROM POLICE

(TOWN OF PERTH, ON) – Officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a man after a Volvo transport truck cab (without a trailer) fled from officers in the Town of Perth at about 7:10pm on Sunday 12th October 2014.

Officers were able to successfully stop the truck on County Road 511 in the Township of Lanark Highlands. It was established that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Ottawa.

Richard HILL (46 years) of Quebec is charged with:

One Count. Dangerous Driving.

One Count. Flight While Pursued By Police.

One Count. Drive While Impaired.

One Count. Fail / Refuse To Provide Breath Sample.

Two Counts. Assault Police Officer With A Weapon.

One Count. Obstruct Police Officer.

One Count. Theft Over $5,000.

One Count. Possession Of Property Over Obtained By Crime Over $5,000.

One Count. Drive While Disqualified.

All are offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

HILL was held for a Bail Hearing.

The investigation continues in relation to a passenger in the stolen truck.
