Stolen Property Recovered – 21 Year Old Faces Charges

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 17, 2015 at 9:34p.m. Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a male operating a motor vehicle without a licence in Tiny Township.

OPP officers learned that the accused had been staying in a residence in Tiny Township since March 2015 without the owner’s knowledge. Further investigation lead police to the recovery of stolen property inside the residence. Investigation is ongoing as to the ownership of other items that were seized at the residence.

Later in the evening on May 18, at 12:27 a.m., the accused was stopped while driving the involved vehicle in Tiny Township. Officers arrested the male and transported him to Southern Georgian Bay Detachment.

The owner of the residence located 27 non-venomous snakes which contravenes the existing by-law of no more than two snakes non-venomous per household. The snakes at this residence were determined to be non-venomous by Tiny animal control. There is no concern for public safety regarding these snakes. The snakes have been removed from the residence by a certified registered breeder. The investigation surrounding the snakes is ongoing with the Tiny Township By-law.

Police have charged a 21 year-old male from Penetanguishene, ON with:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 contrary to sec 354(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

– Possession of a schedule II controlled substance under 30 grams contrary to sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance.

The accused was held for bail on May 19, 2015
