(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH ON) – On May 6, 2017 at approximately 12:45 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on Line 8 near County 14, Township of Wellington North.
Police attended and located the motor vehicle and found the driver asleep in the vehicle. Police woke the driver and while speaking with him believed he may have consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.
55-year-old Steven BURNS of Wellington North Township has been charged with Care or Control While Ability Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 6, 2017. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
