Spun Out 17 Year Old Facing Impaired Driving Charge

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 31, 2016 at approximately 2:35 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver travelling without lights on Wellington Road 29 north of Highway 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Further information was received that that vehicle had spun out and was stopped in the middle of the road.

Officers located the 2011 Volkswagon that matched the description provided by the witness. The vehicle was stopped in the northbound lanes with the engine running. While speaking with the male driver police noted obvious signs of impairment and placed him under arrest.

Police searched the vehicle and seized drug paraphernalia that appeared to contain drug residue.

A 17-year-old male from Guelph has been charged with Driving While Impaired by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 24, 2016 to answer to the charge.
