South Simcoe Police Daily News Release – 14Nov2016

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, November 11, 2016, at 10:45 p.m., a South Simcoe Police sergeant was following a vehicle on Highway 27 near Bond Head. As he followed the car, it continually weaved and changed speeds until he pulled it over in Cookstown. When he approached the driver, he noted the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The woman was given a roadside screening device test which resulted in a FAIL. After further testing at the station the 42 year old Barrie woman was charged with Drive Over 80 mgs. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded. She will appear in court later this month.

A short distance away, just five minutes later, a second officer stopped a car on Yonge Street near the 14th Line of Innisfil. This car had also been driving erratically. When the officer spoke to the driver, he arrested the man for Impaired Driving. After testing at the station, a 58 year old Bradford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his car impounded. He too, will appear in court later this month.

On Sunday, November 13, at 2:45 a.m., a third car was stopped, this time in Bradford. The driver was given a roadside screening device test resulting in a WARN. The Bradford man had his driver’s licence suspended for 3 days.

We are discouraged that drivers continue to drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs. South Simcoe Police conduct R.I.D.E. spot checks year round, and a key component of our business plan is the reduction of impaired driving. We will continue to aggressively combat impaired driving in our communities.

Stolen Auto Recovered

(Innisfil, ON) On Thursday, November 10, 2016 a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was stolen from a rural Innisfil home. On Sunday, November 13, 2016, around 9:00 a.m., the vehicle was found on Lakelands Avenue in Alcona. Anyone with information on this theft is urged to call South Simcoe Police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
