(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Friday February 28, 2014 at 10:52 pm, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment, Haliburton County EMS and Dysart et al Fire Department responded to a snowmobile collision on Boice Bradley Drive, in the Municipality of Dysart et al, Ontario. The collision occurred approximately ½ km north of Haliburton Lake Road when the male driver who was operating his 2002 Polaris, lost control and struck a tree. The male suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by land ambulance to Haliburton Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The male has been identified as 59 year old Ronald PARKER from Pickering, Ontario.
The collision is currently under investigation by OPP technical collision investigators. It appears at this time that the male was unfamiliar with the area and speed may have been a factor in the collision.
