(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – From January 30, 2016 to January 31, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) patrol duties in the area of Elliot Lake. As a result of the weekend MSV patrols, the following people were issued Provincial Offence Notices for the following infractions:
David PAUL, 32 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with: Fail to produce evidence of insurance, contrary to section 12(2) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Joshua GROULX, 21 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, charged with: Fail to produce evidence of insurance, contrary to section 12(2) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Garth MCCOMB, 22 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with: Fail to notify change of ownership, contrary to section 3(3) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Dustin GRANT, 27 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with: Fail to Display Evidence of Permit, contrary to section 2(8) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Mark ASAPH, 36 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
Fail to Produce Evidence of Insurance, contrary to section 12(2) of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act; and
Fail to Surrender Licence, contrary to section 33(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
On January 31, 2016, OPP assisted Elliot Lake Snowbirds Snowmobile Club with youth and the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA) licence course. Officers explained the MSVA, Off Road Vehicle Act (ORVA), and by-laws pertaining to each Act.
On January 31, 2016, OPP conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere
(R.I.D.E) program on the trails in the Elliot Lake area and all who were stopped were in compliance.
