(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On October 19, 2016, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting commercial motor vehicle (CMV) traffic enforcement on Wonderland Road, near Ten Mile Road.
Officers stopped a white Freightliner tractor trailer travelling southbound, after observing smoke coming from one of the tires.
As a result of the police investigation, the 64-year-old male driver, from Middlesex Centre, Ontario, has been charged with 15 offences:
Under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):
Operate vehicle – fail to display device X2
Operate cmv – no valid CVOR certificate
Prohibited use of slow moving vehicle sign
Improper tires – cmv
Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
Drive cmv with air brake – no endorsement
Drive cmv – no licence
Drive cmv with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle
Fail to ensure daily inspection conducted properly
Fail to supply driver with daily inspection schedule
Insecure load – cmv
No covering on load – cmv
Under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)
fail to surrender insurance card
The charges will be processed through the Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Offences Court, in London, Ontario.
