SIU Invokes Mandate – Pursuit Ends In Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On August 8, 2013 at approximately 7:50 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a Norfolk Street South address after receiving reports of a theft that had just occurred. A green coloured Chevrolet Blazer was seen leaving the area.

Police subsequently located the suspect vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 3 and attempted to stop it. The fleeing suspect failed to stop and became involved in a collision when the vehicle left the roadway.

Four occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Norfolk General Hospital where they are being treated for injuries.

As a result, Highway 3 will be closed between Cockshutt Road and Blueline Road to allow for the investigation to be conducted.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked its mandate. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
