(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were involved in 67 occurrences over the weekend and laid charges in several incidents.
MAN CHARGED WITH BREAK AND ENTER
During the evening of May 22, 2015, officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress to a Queen Street residence. Officers responding to the scene located the suspect, who fled from the police on foot. He was apprehended a short time later. Charged with one count of Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code is 20 year old Kenneth QUILL of Thunder Bay. QUILL was held in custody for bail court, taking place on May 25, 2015.
TWO PERSONS CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION
On the morning of May 23, 2015, officers were assisting the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) at a fish check station. A vehicle being inspected lead to the seizure of a quantity of marihuana. Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is 48 year old David RARICK of Sioux Lookout. RARICK was released from custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout court on June 23, 2015.
Later on in the evening of May 23, officers were conducting traffic control on Highway 516. One vehicle that attended the scene had a strong odour of marihuana coming from it. The subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of marihuana. Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is 24 year old Michael LABELLE of Sioux Lookout. LABELLE was later released from custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout court on June 23, 2015.
SIOUX LOOKOUT OPP INVESTIGATE MISCHIEF
During the evening of May 23, 2015, officers investigated a mischief to a Queen Street residence. At approximately 9:30pm, unknown persons passing by threw rocks at a residence, causing damage to several windows. No suspects were located. NUISANCE BEAR CALLS ON THE RISE
Over the past weekend officers responded to several calls from residents about bears on their property. The Sioux Lookout OPP would remind residents to take preventative measures to help reduce unwanted contacts with bears. The most common issue is people leaving their house hold garbage out and available to the bears.
