Single Vehicle Collision Results In Heavy Damage

(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – Shortly after 3:00 p.m., on March 14, 2018, a single motor vehicle left the roadway in the Township of Perth South, colliding with a tree.

Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services and Stratford Fire Department responded to the scene. The driver was travelling North on Perth Road 119 when the vehicle entered the ditch. The lone female occupant was transported to hospital for assessment, and the vehicle sustained extensive damage.

Motorists are reminded that travelling in excess of posted speed limits, particularly during the winter season can have serious consequences. Clearer portions of roadways can be deceiving and can prompt drivers to over correct when encountering sections of snow or ice.

Slow down. Ensure ample distance between your vehicle and the one ahead. In the event of a skid, look and steer in the direction that you want to go. Remove your foot from the accelerator and slowly apply the brake.

Taking extra time can prevent a potentially serious and costly collision.

Report concerning driving behaviour to police. In an emergency, pull over, and dial 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, call 1-888-310-1122.
