(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment assisted the Simcoe Community Policing Committee with a Lock It or Lose It program in Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario.
On Saturday, November 30, 2013 members of the OPP and Simcoe Community Policing Committee attended downtown Simcoe and completed a Lock It or Lose It Program checking approximately 342 vehicles.
The OPP and Simcoe Community Policing Committee found that 306 vehicles were secured and 36 vehicles were left unlocked.
Through this initiative several vehicles had valuables visible in the front seat which included purses, GPS units, change, alcohol, IPods, IPhones, cheques, prescription medication, and a laptop computer.
The OPP want to remind everyone that if you can’t take the items with you, please put them out of sight.
“This is an opportunity for our community residents to be involved with proactive prevention before someone becomes another statistic of stolen property from a motor vehicle,†comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
