On November 21, 2015 shortly after 8:00 p.m. the man attended Canadian Tire on Grand Avenue in Chatham. He attempted to leave the store via a back room fire exit with a TV. As the alarm sounded, the man dropped the TV, grabbed two socket sets and fled the store making no attempt to pay for the items valued at $299 each. The man was identified and a warrant for the offences of theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 was issued for his arrest.
Last night, the man was apprehended in Windsor. Thiago Sousa, 27 years, of Sturgeon Avenue in Leamington was transported back to Chatham-Kent and released with conditions pending a future court date of December 29, 2015.
