(Selwyn Twp., ON) On 7 December 2009 Peterborough County OPP received a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a gas station located on Highway 28 north of Youngs Point.
Upon investigation it was revealed that the victim in the matter was a 14 year old girl and the suspect was the owner of the business.
An investigation was conducted which led to the arrest on December 8 2013, of a male Davinder SONI of Selwyn Township.
Through the last 3 years numerous court dates and a lengthy trial resulted during which the Crown (J HUGHES) submitted similar fact evidence involving other allegations made against the accused by other parties.
The accused was found guilty of the offences in 2012 however sentencing was put over to 2013.
On Wednesday September 4, 2013, Davinder SONI of Selwyn Township was sentenced by Provincial Court Judge L.CAMERON in Peterborough Provincial Courts, for two counts of Sexual Interference.
The accused has been sentenced to 90 days custody with 3 years of Probation, as well as a Life Time listing on the National Sex Offender Registry.
