SERIOUS COLLISION UPDATE

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment continues to investigate a single motor vehicle collision on Greens Road, at Argyle St., Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON.

On Sunday February 23rd, 2014 at approximately 9:00 am a black Mazda pickup truck being operated by 44 year old Nikolas TRAYNOR of East, ON was southbound on Hwy #6 when it entered into the off ramp for Greens Road. The vehicle failed to negotiate the curve and crossed over Greens Road rolling over and entered into the south ditch.

Two passengers in the vehicle a 34 Geri Lynn SCHIMDT and 56 year old William ARTHUR both of Hamilton, ON sustained life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital by Haldimand County paramedics after receiving emergency medical treatment at the scene. Both remain in critical condition.

Haldimand County Fire Department was also on scene and provided extrication services.

The 44 year old driver was not injured during the collision.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting with the investigation.

Greens Road was closed for the day to traffic from Argyle St to the Hwy #6 bypass.

As a result of the investigation, the driver Nikolas TRAYNOR has been charged with 2 counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Driving while Disqualified and Obstruct Peace Officer. He has been held in custody to await a bail hearing today Monday February 24th, 2014 at 9:00 am at the Provincial Court, Cayuga, ON.
