SERIOUS COLLISION RESULTS IN CARELESS DRIVING CHARGE

Police have charged a 19 year old Stratford, ON woman with careless driving after police were called to the scene of a serious two vehicle collision last evening. The collision occurred around 7:07pm on August 21st, 2014 at the intersection of Fairview Road and John Wise Line, Central Elgin.

At the time a Dodge Durango was traveling south bound on Fairview Rd. when it was struck on the passenger side by a Toyota Matrix that had been travelling east on John Wise Line. Both vehicles ended up in the southeast ditch as a result of the impact.

The driver of the Dodge Durango, a 42 year old Tecumseh ON man, and front seat passenger, a 37 year old Kingville On man were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 33 year old Kingville, ON woman who was seated in the back of the Durango had to be extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted to a London Hospital. She is currently listed in serious but non-life threatening condition.

The driver of the Toyota Matrix, a 19 year old Stratford ON woman and her passenger, a 20 year old Springfield, ON woman both had to be extricated from the vehicle by Central Elgin Fire Services. Both were then transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation police have charge the driver the Toyota Matrix, Mahsa GHASSEMI, age 19 from Stratford with;

Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

GHASSEMI was issued a summons and is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas Court at a later date.

The intersection of Fairview Ave. and John Wise line was closed for approximately 2.5 hours to facilitate the investigation.
