SD&G OPP News

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 152 calls for service from Friday May 25, 2018 to Monday May 28, 2018.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

– 11 Motor Vehicle collisions

– 14 calls for Police assistance

– 9 – 911 calls

– 18 traffic complaints

– 2 Traffic enforcement occurrences

– 5 RIDE Programs

– 3 Fraud related calls

– 1 Domestic dispute

– 2 Assault calls

– 2 Mischief calls

– 4 theft calls

– 5 alarm calls

– 1 Break and enter call

– 3 Impaired driving occurrences

– 1 sexual assault occurrence

– 3 harassment calls

– 3 mental health calls

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On May 25, 2018 at approximately 2:58pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 2 in South Stormont, Ontario. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed the male was breaching previous release conditions.

Marc LAPOINTE (51) of Quebec City, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Fail to comply with undertaking (2 counts)

– Possession of a controlled substance

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 14, 2018.

ASSAULT- DOMESTIC

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On May 25, 2018 at approximately 4:36pm Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male had assaulted his ex-wife. Further investigation revealed that the male had caused damage to the victim’s property.

A 31-year-old male of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Mischief

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court on June 12, 2018.

ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On May 25, 2018 at approximately 7:29pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a disturbance on County Road 2, South Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred between an adult female and an adult male. The accused female struck the victim with a weapon, uttered threats and damaged property. The victim received no injuries.

Amy CASSELMAN (47) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault with a weapon ( 2 counts)

– Uttering threats

– Mischief

– Assault

She was held in custody (bail) is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – On May 25, 2018 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– May 25, 2018 – 9:50pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 155km/h (100km/h zone)(Highway 401). Male driver (27) from St-Leonards, Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On May 26, 2018 at approximately 7:27pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single vehicle (ATV) collision on Grove Street in South Dundas, Ontario. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. The male driver had struck a garage door at the location. The male driver also had his driving privileges disqualified stemming from previous driving related offences.

Craig HODGSON (34) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle

– Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance

– Fail to comply with probation order

– Mischief under $5000

– Drive While disqualified (2 counts)

He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On May 26, 2018 at approximately 9:56pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a two vehicle collision on County Road, 34 in North Glengarry, Ontario. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. The male driver also had his driving privileges disqualified stemming from previous driving related offences. The male driver had also taken the vehicle without the consent of the owner. Both drivers received minor injuries.

Normand LACOMBE (57) of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Fail or refuse to provide sample

– Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (3 counts)

– Take motor vehicle without consent

– Drive While disqualified

He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
