(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On December 16, 2015, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Causley Street, in the Town of Blind River.
At approximately 4:34 p.m., a westbound vehicle was observed by police and a traffic stop was initiated.
As a result of the stop, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol, and that there was open liquor inside the vehicle. Also found in the vehicle was a baggie containing less than 30 grams of Cannabis Marihuana
Scott CLARKE, 34 years of age, from Mississauga, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:
Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 453(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
Possession of a Scheduled II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on March 5, 2016.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption while driving. Anyone who suspects a driver who is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
