School Bus Driver Charged Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 68-year-old male following a two vehicle collision involving a school bus at a Sandusk Road, Hagersville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Monday September 24, 2018 at 7:14 a.m., OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Sandusk Road and Concession 13 Walpole where a witness reported a school bus had collided with a passenger vehicle.

Haldimand County paramedics assessed the 72-year-old male and 73-year-old female occupants of the passenger vehicle and transported them to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The school bus driver was not injured and there were not any student passengers on board.

OPP investigation has determined that the school bus was travelling north bound on Sandusk Road and entered into the intersection where it collided with a passenger vehicle that was travelling west bound on Concession 13 Walpole.

Sandusk Road, at the intersection of Concession 13 Walpole, is controlled by stop signs for north bound and for south bound traffic.

OPP has charged the 68-year-old male school bus driver with careless driving under The Highway Traffic Act.
