Running for Rick 2013

Media are invited to attend London Police Headquarters today for the third annual “Running for Rick” fundraiser in support of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Today at 1:00 p.m., members of the London Police Service will participate in the “Running for Rick” fun run, in memory of Inspector Rick Harriss, who passed away suddenly three years ago. Rick was a very strong supporter of the Salvation Army. He was a Salvation Army board member for many years and mobilized the London Police members to staff the annual Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign.

This year London Police Service members will participate on Salvation Army Kettle Drive throughout the city on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, encouraging community donations to help the Salvation Army support those community members in need.

London Police Service members have signed up for the lunch hour run; a 5km loop run, from Police Headquarters, around Victoria Park, and back. Each member participating as well as the London Police Association has made a donation to the Salvation Army.

The main run will start at the rear of London Police Headquarters at 1:00 p.m. and the donation presentation to the Salvation Army will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the main lobby.
