On Saturday the 17th of August, 2013, at approximately 5 pm, OPP officers were dispatched to the scene of a rolled over vehicle near marker 14 on Highway 417 in East-Hawkesbury.
Investigation revealed that a white 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, with five occupants, was traveling westbound on Highway 417 when the vehicle drove onto gravel on the shoulder which made the driver lose control and enter the grass median and rolling over.
All five parties were injured including one severely.
The 19 year old male driver, Niko ST-GELAIS of Lachine, QC was arrested and charged for the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
Section 255(2) Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm – Motor Vehicle (4 counts)
Section 253(1)(b) Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle
Section 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation – Motor Vehicle
Section 335(1) Take Motor Vehicle without Consent
He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for section 32(1) Drive motor vehicle – no licence
and under the Liquor Licence Act 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor .
