(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On August 7, 2015 at approximately 6:44 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) investigated the driver of a 2007 Honda that was travelling southbound at a high rate of speed on Wellington Road 29 north of Highway 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. While speaking with the driver, police detected the odour of alcohol on his breath and a Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
52-year-old Roger SCOTT of Erin has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 28, 2015 to answer to his charges.
