(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On January 2, 2015 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the swing bridge in Bobcaygeon, located at Main Street and Canal Street, to investigate a motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival on scene it was discovered that a tractor trailer had struck the wall while crossing, completely blocking the bridge. As a result of the investigation Rodney COATES, 59 years of age, of the United States of America, was charged Careless Driving and Disobey sign, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The bridge was reopened after it was deemed to be functional for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
