(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On February 20, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single vehicle collision on Highway 7 near Elm Tree Road. Upon arrival officers discovered that the driver was trapped, but not seriously injured.
Initial investigation indicated that the driver had lost control and then rolled the vehicle which came to rest on the roof. The fire department assisted with extrication of the driver who was then transported to a local hospital via ambulance.
The officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol and subsequently conducted a breath test, after the driver had been medically cleared. As a result of the investigation Robert SHEARER, 54 years of age, of Oakwood, was charged with driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. Mr. Shearer’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on April 10, 2014.
