(SUDBURY, ON) – On the evening of December 29, 2014, officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Highway 69,
City of Greater Sudbury.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers were following a northbound Subaru car when they observed it weaving in its lane and drive onto the shoulder. The vehicle was stopped at Henri Street and Highway 69. Investigation revealed the male driver had been drinking.
As a result of failing the roadside screening device, officers attempted to arrest the male but he resisted.
Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 and Resist Peace Officer, is Robert HANSON, age 65 of Sudbury, ON. He received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
He was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on February 4, 2015.
