(BARRIE, ON) – On Sunday October 30, 2016 at approximately 7:14 PM, an OPP officer observed a motor vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte Township. The officer stopped the vehicle on Highway 11 near Line 5 of Oro-Medonte Township.
As a result of the investigation, 53 year old Robert Cormier of Washago, ON was arrested and charged with Driving While his Ability was Impaired by Alcohol CC 253(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 253(1)(b). The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or take public transit.
