(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A call to police from a concerned citizen led to the recent arrest of a 55 year old driver from North York. Just after 9:30 a.m. on June 28, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint of Dodge Ram pickup driver that was driving erratically into Goderich on Huron Road. Officers were in the area and were able to locate the vehicle at the Canadian Tire parking lot.
Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. In addition officers spotted an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was arrested and a search incident to arrest revealed he was also in possession of a quantity of marihuana. He was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests and both of his tests resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Roal RICHARDS, 55, from North York has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Marihuana) and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol.
He has a scheduled court appearance on August 11, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
