ROADS IN BRUCE PENINSULA ARE OPEN WITH EXCEPTION OF HIGHWAY 6 FROM BRUCE RD. 9 (JUST NORTH OF WIARTON) TO FERNDALE

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – As of 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2013, all roads are now open in the Bruce Peninsula with the exception of Highway 6 just north of Wiarton to Ferndale. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) continue to clean up the drifted/snow covered road in this area in an effort to making it safe for travel.

The OPP are reminding motorists to still use extreme caution when travelling due to poor visibility, blowing and drifting snow that is still accumulating on the Bruce Peninsula.

Please do not call the local OPP Detachment or the Provincial Communications Centre in London for road/weather conditions. Dispatchers are busy answering “calls for service”. Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have a legitimate emergency.

Call 5-1-1 for up-to-date road conditions on Provincial Highways or 1-866-266-5569 for roads maintained by Grey and Bruce Counties; or visit http:www.mto.gov.on.ca/English/traveller/trip/road_closures.shtml.

Bruce Peninsula OPP will update the media release once conditions have improved and the roads become safe for travelling.
