(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Saturday November 24, Northumberland County was struck with some seasonal weather that contributed to several collisions on Highway 401 in the early morning to late afternoon hours.
Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several motor vehicle collisions on Highway 401 and other area road ways as the County was hit with winter weather and storm like conditions contributing to drivers not exercising caution while driving and ending up in minor crashes.
OPP would like to remind motorists that weather and road conditions can change rapidly at this time of year. Driving too fast for the road conditions is the NUMBER ONE CAUSE of winter collisions. The public is also reminded not to contact OPP for road conditions. You can now call 5-1-1 for interactive up to date road conditions anywhere in Ontario or call the MTO toll free at 1-800-268-4686.
