The Barrie Police Traffic Unit conducted a R.I.D.E. spot-check in several areas of the City Friday evening. As a result of the R.I.D.E. 584 vehicles were stopped. In total 34 roadside screening tests were conducted, resulting in (3) 3-Day licence suspensions for registering a “Warn†range at roadside and (2) 24 hr licence suspension for driver operating a vehicle under 22 years of age with alcohol in their system. Officers then assisted with a Fail to Remain accident, arresting the fleeing driver for Impaired Driving. The Barrie Police Service-Traffic Unit reminds driver that if you intend on consuming any quantity of alcohol, please plan ahead use a designated driver, taxi, public transit or a designated Driver Service.
